    If you do not get a confirmation via the registration process you selected within 48 hours, please call to enskure you are registered for the program or event you wish to attend.

You may pay for your registration or materials fee by one of the following:

  • Stop by The FCC during normal business hours M-F 9-4 ( Suggested to call to ensure someone will be there)
  • Send a check made payable to:The Friendly Community Center PO Box 604 Mountainhome PA 18342
  • Coming soon you will be able to pay via Pay Pal on our website or at The FCC by Debit/Visa

• Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
• Please do not register for more programs than you plan to attend. If you are unable to attend a session, please notify the instructor in advance or call The FCC.
• If membership fees and/or materials fees are required to participate in a program, fees must be paid before registration is considered complete.
• Some programs and events have maximum group sizes so you might receive a pending approval message at the time of registration. Look for a follow-up email to confirm your registration.
• The Friendly Community Center reserves the right to cancel a program due to insufficient enrollment.
• All programs are held at The Friendly Community Center unless otherwise noted.

If you enjoy birds, join Darryl & Jackie Speicher of Pocono Avian Research Center for monthly meetings of the BBC at The FCC. Meetings will include informational programs, discussion of birds and seasonal birding opportunities, including walks and other birding activities throughout the year.

Enjoy all of the benefits of yoga with the support of a chair. Learn common chair yoga poses and breathing techniques while increasing strength and flexibility. Drop in.

Quartz crystal singing bowls are played, each one tuned to a chakra energy center of the body, where sound nourishes and stimulates the many systems of the body. Stretch out on a mat or sit in a chair and allow the sound to flow energetically through you. Benefits include: rejuvenation, deep peace, heightened awareness, and relaxation for the mind, body, and spirit. Join us for this special vibrational meditation!

Try a dance class designed to benefit members of the Parkinson’s community, as well as those with arthritis, trouble with balance, and other movement issues. Gentle dance, rhythm, and stretching movements improve flexibility and focus attention on eyes, ears, and touch as tools to assist in movement and balance.

People of all abilities in knitting, crochet, and other needlework are invited to join this weekly stitchery group. Learn to knit, revive an old project, or start a new one. Sit and stitch while chatting over a cup of coffee.  Get help with your work or share your own expertise.

Mindfulness, the practice of purposely paying attention in the moment, is a form of meditation that helps us befriend our minds and attain peace within our lives. Learn to practice mindfulness through sitting and walking meditation.

This Chinese-based moving meditation improves balance and mental focus while gently lubricating your joints. Each movement simulates beautiful elements in nature and can be modified for those who need to be seated.

An internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. The term Taiji refers to a philosophy of the forces of yin and yang.

 AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAMThis defensive driving course designed for qualified drivers’ age 50+ to earn the potential discounts on auto insurance.

ALZHEIMER’S CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP
Is someone you love suffering from Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia? Connect with other caregivers in your community and get the support you need.

DIABETES-PREVENT T2 PROGRAM
An ongoing free program by the CDC designed for people with prediabetes and elevated A1C. It is also for people who are at high risk for type 2 diabetes and want to lower their risk. With this CDC approved curriculum and trained Coach, The Prevent T2 lifestyle change program can help you lose weight, become more physically active and reduce stress.
Session Begins: Tuesday, January 23rd at 2:30 and meets every Tuesday for 16 weeks, then meets once a month for 6 months

 MEMORY CAFE
The Cafe provides a safe and supportive place for those with early stage Alzheimer’s disease, their caregivers and loved ones to gather, learn, and share experiences.

The FCC is home to The Dottie Hughes Fitness Park – a unique place that allows you to strength train outdoors. Feel free to come work out when it fits YOUR schedule! Park may not be available certain days due to other fitness group usage. Instruction for use of the fitness park to be scheduled in the spring.

Intro to Knitting Part 1 & 2
Love to craft? Local guest crafters will lead the group to create your own artwork or share their skills. Check our Facebook page to see the craft of the month or register to receive email. Registration required; call or email to reserve your space.
Learn about yarn, needles, and casting on while making a dishcloth for your first project.

Meet every Tuesday for easy hikes to beautiful areas of the community. Participants exercise while enjoying time with others and our wonderful natural resources. A list of scheduled hikes will be available at the first walk.
Time: Tuesdays at 9 AM (June thru October, weather permitting)
Location: Meets in Mountainhome U.M.C. parking lot

WOMEN’S RETREAT
Spend the afternoon with other women to practice the art of nurturing ourselves through  yoga, meditation, compassion and journaling. Yoga performed on the floor and in seated formats. Dress in loose or yoga clothing. Bring a journal and yoga mat, if possible.
Time: Saturday, February 3 from 1-4 PM
