SPRING/SUMMER 2017 PROGRAMS

Check back often for new programs


• Registration is on a first come, first served basis.

• Please do not register for more programs than you plan to attend. If you are unable to attend a session, please notify the instructor in advance or call The FCC.
• If membership fees and/or materials fees are required to participate in a program, fees must be paid before registration is considered complete.
• Some programs and events have maximum group sizes so you might receive a pending approval message at the time of registration. Look for a follow-up email to confirm your registration.
• The Friendly Community Center reserves the right to cancel a program due to insufficient enrollment.
• All programs are held at The Friendly Community Center unless otherwise noted.
• Visitors may register to attend a single session of any program for $10.

This defensive driving course is designed for qualified drivers age 50+ for potential discounts on auto insurance. AARP membership is not required.

Time: 4 hour refresher course Tues, May 2nd from 1-5 PM2 day class Tues, May 9 & Wed, May 10th from 1-5 PM

Caring for someone with a chronic illness, disability, or other challenging condition takes a very special person. Attend this support group to find out how other people cope, share your concerns and hopes, and get ideas from others. If you like, your loved one can take part in the Chair Yoga class, held during the same time.

Time: Last Wednesday of the month from 3 – 4 PM

 CRYSTAL BOWL SOUND BATH
Quartz crystal singing bowls are played, each one tuned to a chakra energy center of the body, where sound nourishes and stimulates the many systems of the body. Stretch out on a mat or sit in a chair and allow the sound to flow energetically through you. Benefits include: rejuvenation, deep peace, heightened awareness, and relaxation for the mind, body, and spirit. Join us for this special vibrational meditation!

Try a dance class designed to benefit members of the Parkinson’s community, as well as those with arthritis, trouble with balance, and other movement issues. Gentle dance, rhythm, and stretching movements improve flexibility and focus attention on eyes, ears, and touch as tools to assist in movement and balance.

FITNESS PARK ORIENTATION
The FCC is home to The Dottie Hughes Fitness Park – a unique place that allows you to strength train outdoors! Take this FREE opportunity to meet in a small group with a certified personal trainer to become familiar with the equipment in The Dottie Hughes Fitness Park. Then work out when it fits YOUR schedule!

Enjoy the pleasure of a slow, 60-minute, meditative walk while being immersed in the splendor of the forest and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Explore with your five senses and practice techniques for breathing in wellness and mind body awareness. During our gentle walk, we will practice gentle standing yoga poses. (And yes, you wear clothing!)

People of all abilities in knitting, crochet, and other needlework are invited to join this weekly stitchery group. Learn to knit, revive an old project, or start a new one. Sit and stitch while chatting over a cup of coffee.  Get help with your work or share your own expertise.
